pleasant/swell round 2
People of Earth,
Shhhh, listen-up, here's the down-low: we want you to come out and join us at the Marx Cafe on Thursday, October 7th from 10 PM until 2 AM for the second installment of Pleasant/Swell. There, we said it.
So the story is three friends got bored at 9-5 one day and decided to start an e-mail thread about what would make a good party. Well, stupid is as stupid does, and after moving the conversation to a random bar... in Mount Pleasant (MtP, bitches), the owner got wind of our ideas and musical tastes and decided, why not, after firing the guy we apparently wanted to replace all along.
So here we are, trying to actually make this work. We have some coolness points from throwing a couple of good parties before, but never really thought anything of it. So sorry if we screw it up the first couple of times, but what else were you planning on doing that Thursday? Quit complaining and live a little.
Our long-term intent is to play some good music, have some good fun, give to some good causes, invite some good, sometimes bad, underground DJs who need a promotional hand and, last but not least, have a good drink.
We think the Marx Cafe is nice, but the venue plays second fiddle to people you're with, so invite some of your closest friends, sit down, talk or shut up and listen, and sip on whatever floats your boat (maybe order some late-night pizza, salvadorean or chinese food from next door and bring it in, but, shhhhhh again, we didn't say that). We promise to keep the music down when you're chilling, and pump it up when you're feeling nice lubricated.
A portion of the proceeds will go towards the DC community of Hope, providing assistance to low income families in the DC area.
